Top Five Posts of 2019
I began blogging in May of this year (2019), and I’m so glad I did. It has been an outlet for my thoughts as well as a means of using God’s gifts for His glory and hopefully for others’ edification. Thank you to all who have encouraged me along the way, as writing can be a very lonely and isolating endeavor. If God is glorified, my time will have been well-spent and I will have no regrets. Thank you again for joining me on this journey. Here are the five most-read posts of 2019, beginning with number five:
5. The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things
In my travels to nearly 30 countries on five continents of diverse cultural, moral, and religious influences, I’ve encountered a vast range of beliefs about right and wrong, good and evil. In fact, there seems to be virtually no limit to where the combined influences of sin and culture can lead people. From hospitality to homicide, we arrive at very different opinions of morality based on where we live and what we’re taught.
So where does this leave us? And what are the implications?
4. Science and Atheism Don’t Mix
For over two centuries agnostics and atheists have advanced the narrative that Christianity is anti-science, that science makes God irrelevant, and that science alone provides the answers to all our important questions. Here I refute this claim and offer a counterclaim, namely, that it is atheism which is incompatible with science.
3. The Single Most Important Question
There are over a dozen facts surrounding Jesus’ apparent death and resurrection which are nearly unanimously-accepted by scholars of all beliefs and religious persuasions. What are these facts that are so certain they unite Christians, agnostics, and even atheists who’ve studied the evidence? And where does this lead us? It leads us to the most important question we’ll ever ask, and to the only reasonable answer to that question.
2. “Christians Are Hypocrites”
Given the enduring popularity of this post, apparently I’m not the only one who has heard the charge that Christians are hypocrites. Is it true? If so, what does that say about Christianity itself? And how do we respond? Even if you read this post before, you may want to revisit it. After all, until Christ returns and we are all glorified, I’m sure we will continue to hear this claim.
1. If I Were a Misogynistic, Sex-Addicted, Power-Hungry, Racist, White Man
After making several efforts to push this one down in the ranks so that it wouldn’t show up first when people searched for my blog, I realized I was working against a tsunami and decided to just embrace it. Check out this post which continues to draw new and old readers, and tell me what you think.
